Our travels continue...

We are still at Bruce Rock, working what has turned out to be a big annual grain harvest. But like most years, the number of growers delivering are starting to dwindle as they finish up. We will be here for a few more weeks as the last of the grain comes in and we clean the place up. Then, it will be time to get the wheels turning to explore some more of this amazing country.

After 5 months of work outloading and then in loading the grain at Bruce Rock, we have finally finished. This year was a very busy one, and one that has left us more than just a tad weary. The record harvest was quite challenging but we made it through.

Bruce ROck CBH 2023

The site was empty and then over a few months filled up with 119,000 tonnes of wheat and barley.

Despite the State's record harvest, and the addition of a new bulkhead we didn't quite fill the place up and there was a space for another 12,500 tonnes, but once it's over, it's over. So after in loading the harvest we went straight into cleaning up and then outloading the G Type shed (top middle). But we had given CBH a date that we were leaving and so when that came, we packed up and headed out, leaving some others to finish the job.

So we are now spending a week to chill and relax and of course get our house in order. We have booked into the pleasant caravan park at Wandering because after 5 months of work, eat, sleep, repeat, 12 hours a day, 6 days a week, we need to give the rig a deep clean, repair a few things, generally get our house in order, and of course recover and make some travel plans.

Mark Twain once said "...years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do that by the things you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." - and so we will.
